Vote for your favorite boat by “liking” the boat’s displayed number seen during the parade on Facebook on Saturday, December 14. Voting ends at 8 a.m. Sunday, December 15.

There are also People’s Choice Awards for the Home Decorating Contest! Voting for both on-and-off water homes will be based on the Facebook “likes” of decorated homes who’ve entered and submitted photos. Voting is open now until Wednesday, December 11.

Participation Guide

Until Dec. 2

  • Choose your theme

  • Schedule boat maintenance (Schedule your mechanic to check out your boat to make sure all systems are working, especially the head, generator, steering and engines.)

  • Sketch out decorations for boat

  • Contact your helpers, get commitments

  • Contact your guests, send "save the date" invite

Oct. 26

  • Meet with your key "helper" to plan the lights & decorations, man hours needed

Oct. 15

  • Order supplies (LED lights, extension cords, zip ties, plywood, paint, decorations)

  • If applicable, book the Captain/Skipper who will be driving your boat

Nov. 1

  • Book/find a workspace (garage/warehouse) where you will work on decorations

  • Send out invitations to guests who will ride with you on the boat

Nov. 15

  • Contact helpers and schedule "decorating time"

  • Verify all boat maintenance is complete, and test all systems of the boat

  • Verify planned light wattage for decorations does not exceed generator limit

Dec. 30 Nov. 1 – Decoration Weekend One

Dec. 7 & 8 – Decoration Weekend Two

Dec. 12

  • Final deadline to submit entry form

  • Attend Skipper's Meeting at HHYC at 7 PM and receive entry number

Dec. 12-13

  • Final decoration days

  • Get final RSVPs from boat passengers

Dec. 13

  • Take a "shake down" cruise in the harbour to test lights

Dec. 14

  • Make any final decorating touch-ups and final fuel & maintenance check

  • Parade line-up starts at 4:30pm

Dec. 15

  • Trophy Presentation TBD

  • Parade line-up starts at 4:30pm

Entry acceptance will be left to the discretion of the panel of Judges.
